Two conflicting needs for electric flight wheels: they must be extremely lightweight, but they must also be strong because the heavy batteries in electric airplanes put great pressure on landing gear and wheels. "LYT" wheels are made of an unusual foam which is extremely light but which only compresses ten percent under a ten pound load. We know of no other lightweight wheels which can support a heavy electric airplane yet withstand the stress that a heavy airplane puts on them.

Reals have the most realistic tires you’ve ever seen in a model airplane wheel. The amount of "squash" is realistic. The "rubber" (it’s not, really, it’s a vinyl compound) has realistic traction — they’re not shiny and slippery plastic. The sizes through 3" are narrow and have lower air drag. They are light weight (for reference to others: 2" - .5 oz.; 3"- 1.25 oz., 4"- 2.5 oz. each). Here’s the kicker: They’re cheaper than other wheels! Compare the prices!

These are our lightest wheels. Here are some weights for reference: 2" - .42 oz, 3" - .89 oz., 4" - 2.06 oz. each. Even though they are light these are very durable and will support heavy model airplanes. Made by Kavan in Germany. These have very scale-like tread designs.

Have air valve so you can change pressure with an air pump. Chrome plated hubs are two piece so you can hide a wheel collar inside. These are VERY strong and will support heaviest airplanes. But they are very light -- from 1.8 oz to 3.5 oz. each. 6mm axle holes can be drilled to 1/4" or shimmed with 7/32" brass tubing (KSN130) to 3/16" axle.

2" long. Tempered steel, use 5/32" wheel collars. Drill a 5/16" hole in your aluminum or (up to 1/4" thick) fiberglass landing gear legs.

Electric Brake

Strong electric brake for Kavan’s BIG Scale Airwheels

Model airplane brake

About 1.5" diameter. Use a 9v transistor radio battery and a micro switch that’s hit by "down" elevator servo movement. Braking is strong -- a single brake on nose wheel gives good stopping. Two on main wheels are even stronger. 6mm axle hole can be drilled to 1/4" or shimmed with 7/32" brass tubing (KSN130) to 3/16" axle.
